As a beginner, you might feel that learning the classical guitar is tough ?well!
You are partially correct. Like any other form of guitar, classical guitar
learning will require a lot of practice and practice makes one perfect!
As you start your classical guitar lesson, you will first learn to
relax, open your mind, and feel the guitar strings. A relaxed posture means that
it will be easier for you to play the guitar. The first few lessons of classical
guitar will focus mainly on the guitar, how you hold it, how you use your nails
and finger to strum the strings or apply pressure on a string to get the desired
sound, how to differentiate between two different sounds, tuning the guitar etc.
Once you are through with the understanding of the classical guitar, the first
real lesson will be that of learning the scales.
The scales are the most
important element of the classical guitar as well as any form of guitar. Once
you master the scales, it will be easier for you to play different chords
including advanced chords. It will also help you to handle the basic,
intermediate, and advanced techniques. But what is a classical guitar scale? A
classical guitar scale is basically a series of tones that move from lower pitch
to a higher pitch. There are basically 6 strings on the classical guitar and
when you play the first string, the pitch will be the lowest. As you move from
the 1st to the 6th string, the pitch will keep on increasing till you reach the
6th where the pitch will be the highest.
Now in each of the strings
passes over several marked sections on the guitar and these sections are called
frets. So when you play a particular fret on the 1st string, it will denote a
particular scale. For example: If you play the first fret on the sixth string
then the scale is called 揊?and each scale has certain notes. The 揊?scale has the
following notes: F, G, A, Bb, C, D, E, and F. It might be a little difficult for
you to understand it especially when you are a beginner but in the course of
time, you will understand and learn how to play different scales and the notes
within them. Most classical guitar teachers emphasize on practicing the scales
for as long as possible before moving ahead.
Tip#1: The more you practice
the scales; the better will be your grasp of the classical
guitar.
Practice and more practice will not only help you to play all the
chords and scales to near perfection but this will also increase your speed.
When we say speed, we mean that your hand will move more freely and rapidly over
the fretboard, covering more scales and chords in the shortest possible
time.
Tip#2: Even though speed will help you to play high and low scales
rapidly on the classical guitar but remember, it is all about the 揹eft
touch?Classical guitar lessons will teach you how to play it but the touch will
be solely your area.
